PARKS AND ATTRACTIONS

If there isn't enough for you to do here with the museums, arts and culture and recreation, some very short drives will take you to plenty more exciting things to see. North of Cooperstown are some historic villages, steeped in Revolutionary War and 19th century history. Cherry Valley, Richfield Springs and Sharon Springs are all found along the scenic U.S. Route 20 corridor, or what was once called the Cherry Valley Turnpike. Cherry Valley was the first settlement in Otsego County, while the other two villages were premiere destinations for vacationers in the 19th century for its healing sulphur waters. Sharon Springs is enjoying a revival as a health spa community.

South of Cooperstown, take a enjoyable train ride on the Leatherstocking Railroad Historical Society's excursion to Milford and back. Visit an authentic Belgian brewery. For a bit of a further drive, see Howe Caverns and the Iroquois Indian Museum, near Cobleskill. Only 30 minutes away is the home of the National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum in Oneonta.

Just about any direction you go, you’ll find arts, heritage, culture, antiques, sports, countryside breweries and bountiful fall harvests. The inspiring setting of this timeless place thrives in the foothills of the northern Catskills. Visit www.visitcooperstown.com
